The sequenced genome map

The majority of the C. elegans genome was sequenced from cosmid clones selected from the physical map assembled by Alan Coulson and colleagues. These clones were supplemented by fosmids, YACs and a few PCR products. The image below is an ACeDB view of the clones selected for sequencing, placed in the context of the genetic map (the yellow bar, with marker locus names, to the left). Cloned genes identified in sequenced clones are named on the right. In this snapshot, maroon means completed, pink in sequencing, and blue selected for sequencing. Some clones (eg ZK524) have not been completed yet, and additional possible clones are shown.
