Neglected Genomes Databases

To promote genetic, genomic and developmental resaerch on organisms for which complete genome sequences are not yet available, and to provide comparative analyses for those with completed genomes, we and others are sequencing large numbers of expresswed sequence tags (ESTs) drom a wide range of species.

Here we provide access to our "Neglected Genomes" PartiGene databases, representing analyses of EST data generated both here in Edinburgh, in collaboration with other colleagues worldwide, and data accessed via GenBank.

ARTHROPODA

our databases for species from phylum ARTHROPODA (over 60 taxa)

TardiBASE

our Hypsibius dujardini (a tardigrade or water bear) EST and GSS database

LumbriBASE

our database of ESTs from the earthworm Lumbricus rubellus and other annelids, part of the ECOWORM Environmental Genomics Programme

MolluscDB

ESTs from nine species of mollusc, including Lymnea stagnalis, the pond snail
LophDB   A database of EST data from platyhelminths and other Lophotrochozoa (work in progress)
Axolotl   A database of analysed ESTs and mRNAs from Ambystoma species (axolotls or salamanders)

Codon usage in Nematoda

Asher Cutter and James Wasmuth used the nematode EST datasets to examine the patterns of codon usage in nematodes, and the evolution of codon bias through the nematode phylogeny.
