The human-parasitic nematode Ascaris lumbricoides. Ascarids are gut and tissue parasites of a wide range of vertebrates, including humans. This species causes human disease, affecting over 1,000 million people. See NEMBASE3 for analyses of ESTs from this parasite and many other nematodes. |
