Nematode 20 kD Lipid-binding proteins (LBP-20)

These proteins, initially identified as surface antigens of Onchocerca volvulus, have been identified in many nematode species from within the Rhabditida-Secernentea. Caenorhabditis elegans has six LBP-20 homologues.

Below is the alignment of nematode LBP-20 homologues used to build the phylogenetic tree in Figure 3C of Blaxter "C. elegans is a nematode". The alignment is in NEXUS format, and also includes, in addition to the sequences presented in Fig 3C, LBP-20 homologues identified from other filarial nematodes (Loa loa, Acanthocheilonema viteae) and a second partial LBP-20 EST fragment from Pristionchus pacificus.
