This site is an archive of bibliographies on filarial nematodes, especially Onchocerca , Wuchereria, Loa and Brugia, and the diseases they cause.

We have used the International Filariasis Association Bibliography of references (from 1634 to 1980), Ralph Muller's Bibliography of Onchocerciasis, and online bibliographic databases to compile a set of references which are available here in formats compatible with personal computer reference management software.

The files are available in the following formats:

What is in the files?

Over 24,000 references!

The database is available as a set of segments. The segments are managable-sized pieces covering a span of dates. The dates included in each file are indicated in the file name. For example fil9095 means filariasis from 1990 to 1995 inclusive.

We would recommend that you have a look at this description of the databases, which explains where they come from, what the different formats are and what sort of limitations and errors there are still in the databases. The database is free of charge but (as much as we would like to) we can make no guarantee as to its competeness or suitaility for your tasks. If you pass the database on to another user, please ensure that they are aware of this www site and of the ways in which they can get and update the databases.

We hope to update and refine the databases as time goes on. While some of these errors we will fix, we would appreciate all feedback you can give as a user.

In particular we would appreciate:

How do I download the files?

You can either use an ftp application such as Fetch (Macintosh) or ftp (Windows, UNIX) to access the databases, or follow the links on this WWW page and let your WWW browser do the ftping for you.

Your browser must support tables for this (eg Netscape 2 or greater, Microsoft Internet Explorer and many others).

The files are available by anonymous ftp from ftp.ebi.ac.uk in the /pub/databases/parasites/Brugia/BiblioFil directory.
