EST Mining,
or How to find the clone of your dreams
With over 23,000 Brugia sequences
in dbEST, finding the clones corresponding to your gene of interest
can be a daunting task. The FGP is dedicated to providing tools to
the user community which will make the process of gene identification
and analysis easier.
The Brugia malayi
EST dataset in NEMBASE
We have analysed the Brugia EST dataset and made our analyses available obver the WWW through the NEMBASE database system.
The
parasite-genome BLAST server
This sequence similarity search tool allows you to search a subset of the sequences in dbest and Genbank - those deriving from filarial nematodes. This makes searching quicker and more focussed. The system is maintained by Martin Aslett of the WHO Computing Resource Centre at the EBI. It allows you to search just Brugia, all filarial DNA, all nematode DNA other than C. elegans, as well as databases for each of the other parasites for which a genome project is in operation.
Caenorhabditis
elegans BLAST Server
Does your filarial gene have a C. elegans homologue? This permits searching of the (complete-nearly) genome sequence of C. elegans as well as the EST dataset and the predicted protein dataset from this model nematode.
