an international initiative to coordinate genome research on the filarial nematode parasites of humans.
The Filarial Genome World Wide Web Site, FilGenNet
The Filarial Genome www site is maintained by Mark Blaxter at
http://helios.bto.ed.ac.uk/mbx/fgn/filgen1.html
and mirrored at
http://math.smith.edu/~sawlab/fgn/filgen1.html
Also at FilGenNet is Filarial Biology and Pathology, a resource centre of information and images on the Filarial nematodes and the diseases they cause. It is authored by David Guiliano and Mark Blaxter. It is accessed from the FilGenNet home page.
EST sequences
All EST sequences are deposited in dbest as soon as they have been generated. They can be retrieved from there by
o sequence similarity search using the parasite-genome BLAST server
o sequence similarity search using the NCBI BLAST server
email blast@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov www http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/BLAST/
o text search (for keywords, etc., as well as by clone or sequence name) from dbest:
o through the NCBI ENTREZ server
EST clones
All EST clones are available from the Brugia Genome Center at Smith College. Contact them by email genome@smith.edu. (MBAFC clones are available from the Edinburgh Lab (see address below)
Clone distribution is free of charge; developed country labs will be asked to pay shipping.
Brugia Genome Project Libraries
The cDNA libraries generated for use in the Brugia Genome Project are available free of charge from Brugia Genome Center at Smith College. Contact them by email genome@smith.edu.
The Brugia Genome Project keeps a register of cDNA libraries and gDNA libraries constructed from filarial nematodes which are available for distribution to researchers. The list (currently 14 libraries from 5 species) is maintained on the www at:
http://helios.bto.ed.ac.uk/mbx/fgn/net/librarylist.html
BiblioFil/OnchoBib
BiblioFil/OnchoBib, the project literature database, is available by ftp from ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/parasite/Brugia/Bibliofil/.
See http://helios.bto.ed.ac.uk/mbx/BiblioFil/bibliofil.html for details
