Onchocerca volvulus
The human-parasitic filarial nematode Onchocerca volvulus.
Filarial nematodes are tissue and gut parasites of a wide range of vertebrates, including humans. This species causes human river blindness, affecting over 100 million people. See NEMBASE3 for analyses of ESTs from this parasite and many other nematodes.
