Nematode Expressed Sequence Tags

Expressed sequence tags are a cost efficient and rapid way of identifying genes. In collaboration with the Pathogens Sequencing Unit of the Sanger Institute and with funding from the Wellcome Trust, we are sequencing expressed sequence tags from a number of parasitic nematode taxa (see diagram below). Our ESTs are analysed in a custom database, NEMBASE, using a suite of dedicated bioinformatic tools. ESTs generated by collaborators are also being analysed. A sister project in the USA (the Washington University Nematode EST Program) is sequencing from additional species (in taxa marked with an asterisk below).
