Phylogenomics

phylogenetics using genome data

  • We use large sequence datasets for molecuar phylogenetic analyses of relationships between groups of organisms, mainly in the Metazoa. This approach, called phylogenomics, uses whole-genome and whole-transcriptome data to better resolve the interrelationships of the animal phyla. Phylogenomics data are being revolutionised by the availability of next-generation DNA sequencing. We also develop software that facilitates the collation and analyses of phylogenomic data - iPhy (and its precursor, TaxMan).
